The Yeovil Labour Party has invited Phil Chadwick of the CWU to give a talk on the liberalisation of the postal services that have been carried out by the New Labour government and the European Union over the last decade or so, and what developments are likely in the future. The meeting will be held on Thursday the 3rd of July at 19:00 at the Labour Club, all are welcome to attend.

The TGWU are running a coach to the Tolpuddle event, remembering the agricultural workers who were deported to Australia in 1834 for forming a union, on Sunday the 20th July 2008.

All members and families welcome.

Coach leaves the follwing pick up points: Outside the Taunton TGWU office @ 09:30 and outside the Labour Club, Yeovil @ 10:15 (Not 11am as stated in the latest newsletter)

At the next meeting of Yeovil TUC, the issue of the "Yeovil Sports zone" will be debated by Ashley Strelling of "Save Mudford Rec" campaign, opposing the development of Yeovil Sports Zone on the recreation ground, and Tim Carrol, leader of South Somerset District Council putting the case for.

The meeting will be held Wednesday 21st May starting @ 19:30hrs @ Unity Hall, Central Road, Yeovil.

The Yeovil & Sherborne Stop the War Coalition will be holding a public meeting, Ghada Razuki from the National Steering Commitee will be giving a report on Iran. On Thursday 15th of May 2008 at Unity Hall (opposite the bus station), Central Road, Yeovil.

Stop the war Coalition is supported by Communication Workers Union - CWU; National Union of Journalists - NUS; National Union of Students; Rail, Maritine, Transport -RMT; Transport Saleried Staff Association - TSSA; Unison and Unite/TGWU.
